Campground Reviews
Here will be posted my opinion of the camp areas I have stayed at. Keep in mind, these are my experiences, good and bad, and may not necessarily reflect the true quality (or lack thereof) of these spots.
But again, they might....
Holly Ridge Campground
I took a spur of the moment trip and was glad I did. This is a small family campground not far off the interstate. Very quiet and peaceful. It was very clean even for being so late in the season. If you like to get out, the town is a throwback to yesteryear and lots of other attractions are within a couple hours drive.
Kittatinny Campgrounds, Barryville Base
This was probably the worst trip of the season, and it was supposed to be the big trip, too! The actual trip and activities were fine, but the campground and it’s management left a lot to be desired.
Normandy Farms
A very nice place – Woodall’s rated this campground with their highest rating, 5 stars, and they deserve every one of them. From the streamlined check-in process, the security gate, the clean restrooms, multiple dumping stations, multiple pools (indoors and outdoors) and the whirlpool and spa, this was a very enjoyable camping experience.
Kettletown State Park Campground
As with most CT state campgrounds, there are no utilities available for the sites. Make sure your trailer battery is charged and your water tank is full. There are water spigots available. Very clean campground and the bathhouse is well maintained.
Canoe River Campground
I attended the 2008 Jimmy Buffett Concert at the Comcast Center which is only about 3 miles from this campground. The bathrooms were CLEAN, the showers were hot.
White Pines Campground
A very nice local campground, minutes away from the Farmington River Tubing. The open sites seemed a bit close together, as well as some of the inside loop wooded sites, but overall, not bad.
